David started out serving an apprenticeship as a carpenter and joiner achieving the status of Site Agent having taken qualifications right up to ONC (Ordinary National Certificate). During this time, David worked as a subcontractor for several national companies such as R Durtnell & Sons Ltd, Arnold & Nathan Ltd, and Oakcraft Ltd. Through these companies, David worked for the National Trust, Mary Rose Trust, and John Hine (Lillyput Lane).
